Craig plays the part of the queen with gtyle. ta mfernaflonal Club sfarfs fhe year off nghf he International Club is a club for students who share an interest in the people places and lan- guages of the world. This year s club consisted of about 35 students and was directed by Telva Richburg. Their purpose was to achieve a cultural exchange and to offer members knowledge of other countries than their own. The International Club started its 1986-87 year off with the suc- cessful International Night, their biggest event. It was an evening specifically for International Club members, foreign language stu- dents, their families, and the fac- ulty. International Night included dancing, singing, a play, and dis- plays, all in varied foreign lan- guages and traditions. There was also authentic foods from many different countires. The night con- cluded with the breaking of a pi- nata made by club members. After this big event the Inter- national Club continued its meet- ings during activity periods. The Honor Sociefy gives supporf and flme fo fhe community. he Honor Society of the 1986 87 school year had ,AR 92? . . approxlmately one hun- dred and fifty members. The officers were: Karen Lauve, Presidentg Debbie Sandgren, Vice Presidentg Same Fowler, Trea- sureg and Jennifer Morris, Secretary. The advisors were Mrs. Elaine Hardin and Mrs. Mary Alice Burleigh. The Honor Society is a national Or- ganization for students excelling aca- demically and who have the following qualities: scholarship good character leader skills and a desire to do com- munity service. In order to be accept- ed into the Honor Society the stu- dents needed to have a 3.5 grade point average and two teacher recomenda- tions. I think Honor Society is an effective way to recognize academic achievement as well as to encourage participation in extracuricular activi- New to the Honor Society during the 1986-87 school year was their as- sistance with the Special Olympics. Other activities included choosing the teacher of the month and caroling for the senior citizens during the Christ- We had more involvement but still not enough. Sam Fowler mas season.
