'S ' . f The 1986-87 Symphonic Band W rw -, 1 If 4 4 1 A Class Acf he RHS 1986-87 Band was truly a success. The group consisted of two parts: Symphonic Band being the more advanced musi- cians and Concert Band-the sopho- more musicians. This combination created a group that was a mixture of many talents. Directed for the first year by John Logan the band generated enthusi- asm towards their work. We work really hard but we have Doing numerous concerts and com- petitions provided the band the op- portunity to show off their talents and since the band has grown by about 50 members that talent is wide- spread. There is a lot of talent here said David Bussey. The band has taken some time this year to get organized. Some days they 7 3 7 tl 7 fun too, Mike Lesko commented. 7 7 it 77 ! 3,5 fi? Both choirs performed well in their concerts and captivated audi- ences. Concert choir in the 86-87 school year was excellent. The choir engaged in a great many ac- tivities. One of the highlights was a trip to Euphrata and Spokane. While in Spokane, Redmond High students stayed with other stu- dents, enabling them to share knowledge and experiences. The Concert choir was chosen as one of the top five high school choirs in the state by the Universi- ty of Washington, a great achieve- ment. Another honor was awarded to the choir. Two of its members, were chosen to go to a state com- petition. Lisa Duncan won the mezzo soprano category and Christina Liu was chosen as first I1 alternate for alto. Pam Smith summed up her ex- periences in Concert choir by say- ing Choir has enlightened my life and music has given my soul reason to soar. Girl s chorus did quite well.
