The group consisted of two parts: Symphonic Band being the more advanced musi- cians and Concert Band-the sopho- more musicians. This combination created a group that was a mixture of many talents. Directed for the first year by John Logan the band generated enthusi- asm towards their work. We work really hard but we have Doing numerous concerts and com- petitions provided the band the op- portunity to show off their talents and since the band has grown by about 50 members that talent is wide- spread. There is a lot of talent here said David Bussey. The band has taken some time this year to get organized. Some days they 7 3 7 tl 7 fun too, Mike Lesko commented. 7 7 it 77 ! 3,5 fi? Natural Helpers Starrett gets the crowded gym to scream louder. '. '1., E.1'3 lv Staff And Sfudenfs Alice Are Involved. here is a unique pro- gram here at Red- mond High called Natural Helpers. Students and staff are chosen to be part of this pro- gram. It is not a class or a club, but a group of people who work indi- vidually with people who have problems. Students' problems are not necessarily always crises, Any- thing they would like to talk about can be discussed with their peers. Natural Helpers are chosen by their peers. The top ten seniors, juniors, and sophomores are se- lected. The students that were in Natural Helpers in junior high are asked if they join and continue their work. All of the students and staff go on a retreat to train in listening NATURAL HELPERS and referral skills. The total num- ber of students at Redmond in Natural Helpers is 106 and there are 18 trained staff members in- cluding two administrators. Mrs. Kuykendall is the advisor The kldS love Carl g peers -Marge Kuykendall and is also a trained Natural Help- er. She has them meet each month to report on their progress.
