bi: Tammy Nason p otos by: Leslie Gray Boys' Swimming Team Goes To State had their best season ever this year as a result of their hard Work and tal- ent. The members were coached by Don Burton, who has coached since the team started in 1978. Practices started in November ev- ery day after school and lasted until the State Championship in the last week of February. Beginners were welcome as they had time to improve after school from 2:30 - 4:00. The team was successful with six wins and two losses. Four members Jason Blaylock a ninth grader Steve Barth Paul Van Sant and Doug Winter went to the State Championship at the University of Washington. One of the highlights of the year was beating both Lake Washington - he boy's swimming team and Juanita High Schools for the first time. A new school record was set in the Medley Relay by the four swim- mers who went to State. Coach Burton felt that the group was very talented, and that next year, We enjoyed our best season ever - Jlm Stlckels since only a few members graduated would be another great year. Because of their dedication the 1986-87 boy s swimming team was the best it has ever been. t was the most successful season ever for Redmond High School girls basket- ball. As the season started they achieved the Lucky Seven by winning the first seven games of the year. The varsity team led by captains made Kinco and the Sea King playoffs for the second straight year. They ended the season with an outstanding record of 16-8. Varsity players included seniors Ju- lie Stephens Amy Hetzler and Melis- sa Bohm. The juniors were Erica Landvetter Stephanie Lindley De- seri Rials and Mary Ann Greene. The lone sophomore was Shawn Simpson. Junior varsity showed a strong girls basketball program for the years to come by winning the Kinco J.V. title Melissa Bohm and, Julie Stephens, with a 19-1 record. This season started out with seven straight wins and a lot of enthusiasm. It carried us through the Kinco league playoffs and into the Sea King district playoffs and into the tournaments for It was the be t season ever. I Wlll be sad to leave it. -Amy Hetzler the second straight year. The teams accomplishments demonstrates the fruits of hard work and dedication.
