Skimming The Surface he 1986 girls' swim team was a little bit bigger than last year. There were no divers, but they had enough talent to win a couple of meets and place 8th in the state. The team started out with 26 girls and ended the season with 19. At the district meet they came in 7th in the medley relay and placed in the 400yd. free relay. Jenny Money Karen Lauve and Barbie Blaylock swam well in the 50yd. freestyle' Jen- ny and Karen also placed in the 100yd. freestyle. In the 100yd. back- stroke Barbi came in 2nd place and Erin Sweet finished in 7th. Don Burton the Redmond swim- ming coach commented that this year s team was bigger than last year s and had a lot of potential. We had a much better season than Two of the swimmers also placed in the state competition. They are: Barbi Blaylock and Jenny Money. last year, said Karen Lauve, senior. It was a very good season Coach Burton As there are many new and younger swimmers the team will be able to gain momentum in the coming sea- sons.
