The Panthers won an overtime battle from the Sweet Home Huskies last Dec. 18 by the score of 48 to 44. This game broke a three game losing streak for the Panthers and sent them on a winning spurt of six games. After flashing through league com- petition to the tune of 8 wins, 2 defeats the Panthers nipped the Bend Lava Bears 67-62 in a vital game Feb. 25. Redmond needed this victory to tie Lakeview's Honkers for the CO League championship. Joe Peterson In the playoff game that resulted be- cause of the tie Redmond was the victor by a count of 60-51. This gave the hard- fighting Cats a state tourney berth. Central Catholic's Rams were the Panther's first opponents and they won handily, getting 64 points to Redmond's 35. The Cats were nervous in the huge court at Eugene and couldn't do any- thing right. Redmond settled down in their sec- ond game and eliminated Hillsboro from any further competition by the score of 52-41. . In the double elimination tournament there Redmond was put out by Mil- waukie's classy Mustangs by a score of 70 to 37. The defending state champions simply had too many horses for the Panthers.
