FUTURE IIDMEMAKERS 0F AMERICA This fall the first chapter of the Future Homemakers of America was organized in Redmond. The National Chapter was organized last spring and since then state and national officers have been elected. There has never been a sister organization to the Future Farmers of America, so the girls decided to call their organization the F.H.A. When the Redmond Chapter was organized, Mrs. Evelyn Roth, state advisor, installed the officers with the assistance of the Bend officers. There are now 52 members and they are taking over the job of keep- ing up the Girls' League room. The advanced homemaking class redec- orated it. The club served dinners to the Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce and the annual F.F.A. parent-son banquet, also a mother-daughter tea. The club sponsored the St. Patrick's day dance. The purpose of this club is: Ill To promote a growing appreciation of the duties and satisfactions of homemakingp 121 To emphasize the im- portance of worthy home membershipg C39 To encourage democracy in home and community lifeg 143 To work for good home and family life for allg 153 To promote international good willg 165 To foster the development of creative leadership in home and community lifeg 173 To provide whole- some individual and group recreation, and 181 To further interest in homemaking. Eligible girls are those who have had one semester and are now enrolled, or girls who have had two years of home economics. In future years the girls hope to take a more active part in school activities. FUTURE HOMEMAKERS BACK ROW1 Schliekelmann, King. Smal- ley. G. Abbott. ROW 101 Will, Ham- mock, Grammar. Blanchard.
