Tribute to a Winner His skill as a coach, his quick humor and infectious grin, the seriousness with which he approaches his work, and the wisdom that he brings with him have brought him wide fame both on and off the football field. Born in Madill, Oklahoma, he soon moved to Beaumont, California, where he grew up. At Beaumont he became involved in sports, lettering in football for four years. He then went to San Bernardino Valley College for two years where he gained a reputation as being one of the toughest line- backers around. After serving in the Armed Forces, he attended the University of Red- lands, where he received a Master ' s Degree. In 1957 he came to Redlands High School, serving as an assistant coach and teaching business courses. Since 1964 he has served as head football coach, as well as teaching driver education and driver training. He is cur- rently serving as President of the Southern California Football Coaches ' As- sociation. Now happily married, he and his wife have three children: Greg, 11; Darryl, 9; and Elizabeth, 4. Because of his sincere devotion to the students of our school, his willing- ness to work, and his continuous endeavors to improve and succeed, the staff of the 1972 Makio is proud to dedicate this year ' s book to Mr. Paul Womack. 16
