The THESPIAN CLUB at ll.U. was started in 1944. The purpose of the club is to enable the members to leam more about drarnatics and to advance dramatic arts in R.U.l'l.S. Activities include producing one play a year, attending pro- fessional plays, producing a children's theater, and putting on school assemblies. The club officers are Larry Fitzpatrick, Presidentg Sue Druding, Vice President, Louise Yolton, Secre- tary, and Dick Leja, Treasurer. Miss Nancy F ll ' h l b' . arre ls I e C u S Sponsor After getting off to a weak start, the Debate Team finished with an overall average of 8 wins and 4 losses. ln league competition, wins and 4 loses enabled them to secure second place. The team travelled to Westem Michigan Uni- versity to participate in a debate forum and to debate against teams from Southwestem Michigan. It has a special purpose which is to promote Christian fellowship among the students. The officers are President, Ken Arping Vice-Presi- dent, Sharon Puljug Secretary-Treasurer, lrene Foley. The sponsor is Mrs. Burge who is taking over while fVlrs. Gaither is ill and out of school. .Il Y. The Y-Teens are sponsored by the YWCA. Like the other school clubs, they play a part in social activities and have many social events planned. They have fund-raisin projects, u,sing the money for some worthy cause. The Y-Teens have a jub at the junior and senior high school. Their aim is: To grow as a person in mind and spirit S To grow in friendship toward people of all races To grow in knowledge and love of God.
