Ill 'l'0llY 0F 'l'Il JANUARY QCLASS 0F 1952 So begins the history of the January Class of 1952-- January of 1948 we, the graduated class of Roosevelt, Fisher, and Volney Smith School, combined to make up one of the noisest fresh- man classes ever to hit R. U. At our first class meeting we dis- covered our sponsor to be Mr. Marshall Everett. Mr. Everett al- ways began our meetings with a quiet, dignified shut up to which we hardly ever responded. Poor Mr. Everett finally relinquished his well-worn duty to Mr. Robert Juhnke who began a quiet deter- mined reformation for us. Managing to fly right into our sophomore year, we started out with a bang! A hayride! Everyone seemed to have a good time with very few casualities. All during this year we tried desper- ately to think of ways to enrich our treasury, but found that the only sure way was to collect the dues fwhen we couldj. When we sprouted up to the junior stage, we gave the last January prom ever to be heard of in R. U. Our Rhapsody in Snow was given in Ypsi. After this, we began to feel the weighty responsibil- ities that would be thrown upon when we assumed our positions as wheels of the school . Ah! Now we were seniors! Our first project was the annual Christmas Tea. All the girls worked so hard getting the punch and cookies read and then--lof all daysll--school was called off! Rea- son--blizzard---snow---piles and piles of it! We elected Paul Niestroy as president of our class so he could bear the burden of getting us through to graduation. Frankie Patton was elected Vice Presidentg Joan Lambert as secretary, and Jerol Lee Carter as treasurer. What a time we had! We planned class day as best we could lYou never can tell what will happenj. Wills, the prophecy, and the giftatory were tossed together. On that fateful day in January 1952, we, the graduating class, left R. U. with memories cherished,'and not so cherished. And--so ends the history of the January Class of 1952. 16
