The team had many outstanding in- dividuals. George Smith's resourcefulness at quarterback and Dick Irvine's booming punting were examples of this. In their opening game, Redford lost a heart- breaker to the U of D Cubs, 26-20. The Huskies' attack was hindered by fumbles and many mis- takes. Each man played his heart out, but the Cubs proved too strong for our relatively inex- perienced team. Inthe second game, the Redford team bounced back, defeating the Western Cowboys 13-7 with a winning touchdown in the final minutes of the last quarter. Then came Miller, and, in a hard fought battle between both teams, the Huskies managed to squeeze out on top of an 8-6 decision. It was a grueling game, but the hard charging defensive line play of the Redford team produced a safety that was good for two points and the game. Redford met Chadsey next and lost by a 7-6 margin.
