s Wm. R. Stocking Principal Homer Clark Assistant Principal !luQandb1n:zQal+abA.Qh,cQQxcuA.aA+hallpi -.fuympatluf December 20, 1946 V The Office Greetings and congratulations to you, the Class of January 1947! Though small in numbers, about 200, you have many outstanding students both in scholarship and in other school activities. Your officers and committees have done their work quickly and well. We certainly are going to miss you. Your last year and a half here has been a, transitional period-not only in your lives but in the life of our nation as a whole and in the affairs of all nations as they have been-trying to work out a world organization, which has taken the name of United Nations . During your first two and a half years of,high school you lived amid the excitement, horror, and frenzy of a terrible war. During the last year and a half, you experi- enced the supreme joy of victory. , K Since V-J Day you have had to adjust your emotions, impulses, and daily living to sudden changes, social, political, and financial, with all the attending problems. You have done mighty well, I think. As you are leav- ing our great school, you will carry with you many happy memories, for example, the great playing of our splendid football team, sparked by the .dazzling runs of Gardner Barnstead. The good times here will stand out most vividly as the years pass but you must not, we hope will not, forget your friends, us your teachers. You have endeared yourselves to us and we want you to remember us kindly, and perhaps, somewhat gratefully. You are the first class to use the school seal or emblem on your Senior Outpost. You, as a group, have exemplified the motto Ut Prosim - That I May Serve . A I cannot wish greater things for you than to hope that in the new world that is forming, you will put into practice by supporting all the worthwhile things in your community, your state, and your world. The world needs youth, strength, and unselfishness. Members of the Class of January 1947, great things are ahead of you. Serve God and your fellow men. Do not forget us for we are proud of you. Sincerely your friend, WM. R. STOCKING
