CLASS PROPHECY The airplane stewardess walked toward me with a smile and to my amazement I recognized an old classmate from ten years past, Patty Merical. We chatted a few moments, then she helped me to my seat. After a while I found that I was sitting by Howard Hoy. He told me he was a traveling salesman and was also going back to Redfield on a visit. We arrived at the airport at 11:30 a.m. and went straight to a cafe where we were served our lunch by Erma Wacht. We asked about the cafe and she informed us that it was owned by Max Carr, who also owned a night club in another part of town. As we were eating, we heard a loud commotion out front so we rushed to the street. At the scene of the accident was Doctor Laura Parker and Undertaker Billy Forshier with his wife, Edna Amann. A siren was heard and up drove Police Chief Harvey Beane, but the accident wasn't serious. lt was just Farmer Kenny Hogan bringing his produce to market in his car when he was hit by Richard Smeltzer who was on his motorcycle. We went back after we had finshed our lunch where we were joined by the former Carolyn Gibbons tnow Mrs. Gene Martini. She said she would show us around. We first went to the big department store owned by Dick Bales. There we met Model Pauline Thompson just modeling a fur coat. Across the street we went into a beauy parlor where Darlene Thompson was giving Don Sloan a permanent wave. Then over in the next block, Carolyn showed us Henry Kester's Art Studio. As we passed the old school house, which was much larger now, we saw Superintendent Roger Martin scolding Mary Lou Morris's children for fighting on the school lawn. Then we walked past a neat little house which Carolyn said belonged to the stern, trim old maid, Shirlie Harrison. Next we went to the brick yard, now owned by Ronnie Simpson where we were greeted by his charming Secretary Patty Dunbar. We next went past the orphanage and found Nurse Dona Keltner singing lullabies to the babies. That evening we went back to the Carr Night Club where we chatted with the hat check girl, Norma Miller. We had a superb dinner and I mustn't forget to tell about the excellent floor show presented by the singing team, Darrell Duff and his partner Norman Rogers. I really enjoyed my vacation and again having the pleasure of meeting my old classmates of 1949. By Wanda Huggins it
