The purpose of the student counc1l 15 to create a democratlc system of government w1th1n the school, to teach the students the fundamental pr1nc1pal of government, and to ralrta1n a feeling of lnaeoendence The student council trys to mainta1n hlgh standards of conduct 1rong the students by self government Sponsor 1155 Unz In the Sprlng of 1057, the pres1dent and V1C8 president were elected Lenny chultz, pres1dent, and D1ck Brusnlghan, v1ce presldent Dorlene Hansen was elected secretary at the flrst meet1ng 1n the fall Among the many thlngs the council has done were the SpODSOT1ng out the year under the sponsorship of organ1zat1on The student COUDCI1 also held a magaz1ne sale so that the clas es could make money Another b1g progect of the councll was to take charge of the h0WeCOY1Dg events, 1ncluoing the parade, crownlng the queen, and the dance The COFm1ttS9 for plann1ng the noon day 3Ct1V1t1SS wa Dlck Brusnighan and Janet Jacobsgaard Janet Ifeece was 1n charge of the bulletln board in the lower hall throughout the year and Nancy Porter and Dorlene Hansen made out the football and basket chedules Bes1des these act1v1t1es and others not wert1oned, the concern of the counc1l 15 to better the school, and although we do not alwags reallze our goal, 1 1 one to wh1ch we w1ll always str1ve STUDENT Leirgghultz Paul Wagner S600 Darlene Hansen V.
