Do you like b mg a small part of a la ge thing or a medium sized part of a small thing? Would you become restless sitting b hind a desk for eight hours? Ask yourself D l like detail work or am I better meeting people? Do I llke responsibilities or do l function better when supervised? ln this connection may l say that educa tion as represented by our schools can help to give us more than knowledge and facts as im por'ant as they are Education can help us de velop a larger sense of values a sensitivlty to what is Just right and good a happy career if we first lay a sound foundation Iosephl Kata Principal Greeting and Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 1958 This year of l958 will long be remembered as the year when the Redbank Valley Second ary School first occupied the new quarters on the banks ot the Red Bank This fine new building was made possible by the united efforts of nine school districts and their ten thousand taxpayers who reside in the Red Bank Valley This building has its foundation in the hopes and dreams of the many fine people who over the past many years have struaqled to provide better educational opportunit es for all of the children of all of the people of the crea Tlne varied needs abilities apt tudes and 1ntere ts of the student body mandates a school with widely varled experiences and activities The construction and operation of this new structure 1S expensive and does now and will continue to require a sacrifice of time and money by those who support t e institution Support of schools will corne Just as long as the schools meet the expectations of the society which supports the schools lt is therefore for us who occupy this beautiful building to ac quaint ourselves with the trust imposed in us and strive to fulfill the destiny which IS ours losephl Kata Principal A . . . 1 , l . Hup, one, twol The Hedbank Music Mak- ers march along. One of our most active groups, the band, had a full schedule during the past year. However, it is the belief of their able conf ductor, Mr. Ake, that Practice Makes Perfect, and musical perfection is the goal of all true musicians. Every football game found them blasting forth their tuneful duties from the bleachers, plus some spectacular performances at half-time that featured sofne difficult, and ei- fective maneuvers. Nancy McGregor, head mae iorette, drilled her wellftrained squad daily in preparation for the local Christmas parade and our band was able to march off with top honors. Participation in the local parades and many other nonfcompetitive contests such as the Au- tumn Leal Festival provided opportunity to demonstrate not only exceptional musical train- ing but marching ability as well. A successful display at Forensic last year gave Redbank a good rating. Featuring the jazz band and cr violin solo by Mr. Ake the annual concert might have been termed a howling success. Well-rehearsed classical selections plus some corny tunes provided a very entertaining hour. Through the combined efforts of both Mr. Ake and his group of instrumentalists, they have ace complished the objective of every true music master. A group of squeaky clarinets, blaring trumpets, and rumbling baritones have become a harmonious musical ensemble. TNVIRLEHS Left, Right, Left is a call that can be heard on Monday in the gym where the maiorettes have their meetings. Under the supervision of Mr. Ake these girls develop rouf tines that can be used at football games, par' ades and for other school activities. Those who are not maiorettes can ioin to learn the funda- mentals of twirling so that in the future they can be considered as a maiorette for our high sciiocl band.
