Future Teachers Gain New Insights Revised from the old Future Teachers of America, SAFE, Students Active for Education, provides a chance for students interested in education as a career to get practical experience in their field. Helping throughout the school district as aides and assistants, the members of SAFE receive invalu- able insight into the art of teaching through these duties and by short-term periods of student teach- ing in elementary schools in the district. Students who serve teachers for seventy-five hours earn one-half credit, a certificate of merit, and an award from the SAFE Club. Mrs. Margaret Abbott is advisor. A. Student Council Plans Mini-Park Student council is composed of five representatives from each class plus the elected officers. This year's officers are Carol Hagerty, president: Brian John- son, vice president: and Bob LeFave, secretary. Though troubled by lack of co-operation, this year's council did provide several student activi- ties, including a spring formal with Central for the two student bodies.
