Children's Theatre Presents Japanese Legend Winter theater at Red River opened with the children's theater production of the story of Urashima Taro. A Japanese fairytale, the play takes place long ago on an island of Japan. Urashima Taro, a poor fisherman, saves a giant sea tortoise. Taro's bravery is well known and news of it has spread all the way to the kingdom of the Sea Princess. The princess calls on Taro to save the sea kingdom from an evil sea scorpion and returns to his village only to discover he has left his youth in the sea. However. he does not regret his quickly passing life because it has been so full and he challenges all men to live life to its fullest. The childrens theater cast is as unique as its audience. The actors. director J.E. Snow Week Breaks Winter Blahs Snow week: a week of activities to break the midwinter blahs. Starting on Sunday with a snow sculpture it was a combination of school spirit and fun. Tuesday night our hockey team beat Devils Lake and Friday the bas- ketball team overpowered prevlously unbeaten Lang- don. Debbie Wassmund and Jerry Ryan were chosen Snow Queen and King as the week's activities were completed with the annual pie eating contest, with Robin Field the winnerg folk night: and the big dance Saturday night, with MC Barry Burkes from KNOX. A. Debbie Wassmund and Paul Sproule put on a skit at folk night. B. The All-American Aardvark plays records at the Snow Week Dance. C. Snow King: Jerry Ryan Snow Queen: Debbie Wassmund D. Tony Hudson is one of many people bought as a slave on Slave Day. E. Pud entertains at Folk Night. F. David Pearson is under the chain of slavery. G. Robin Field wins the pie eating contest. H. Students watch the pie eating contest. I. Velvatones perform at Folk night. J. Barry Burkes crowns Debbie Wassmund Snow Queen at the pep rally. 26 snow week , ., .
