vi Sergio I-Iis American Family, the Sibleys. Zannini - His Own Family in Costa Rica. The American Field Service is a private educational organization which has specialized on the teenage level since 1947. It is a peacetime program to further the basic friendship which exists among all men. Our ninth exchange student, Sergio Zannini, comes to us from Los Sauces, a suburb of San Jose, Costa Rica. The Reverend Harold Sibleys are his American family during his stay in Red Oak. Sergio attended Liceo de Costa Rica before coming to America. Before graduating from his high school in Costa Rica, Sergio states that he will be required to take final examinations over his 6 months schooling before coming to America and the 6 months after leaving ROCI-IS. He would like to major in aviation when he goes to the university --electronics is his next choice of vocations. Sergio is favorable impressed with our country. He has fallen victim to our hamburgers and hot dogs, but says he misses tortillas and rice from -his home kitchen. Carol writes about her trip to Chile as a foreign exchange student: My AFS summer in Chile was wonderful It was so easy to love the friendly, good humored people and their beautiful country. One of their customs that I liked best was hugging every- body when you greeted them. I also enjoyed eating four meals a day and attending their lively parties, that lasted until about six in the morning! I loved my family, the Pobletes, very much. By living with them in Concepcion, Chile, for ten weeks, I learned their way of living, their language, and their hopes for world peace. For me, the AFS motto has come true: Walk together, talk together, O ye Peoples of the earth, and have Peace. Carol Fifield Her Chilean Family, the Pobletes
