This is one of the major thoughts as we bring to a close our junior year. This past year has been one of hard workg not only have we studied hard to reach our goal, but we pooled all our ef- forts to make enough money for the traditional Junior-Senior Banquet. The major portion of our fund emanated from a magazine drive. Three members of our class served as cheerleaders. We were enthusiastic supporters of various extra-curricular activie ties, contributing 24 to Y-Teens, 22 to Vocal Music, 16 to Band, 20 to GAA, and 16 of our number participated in sports. And now, it is our pleasure to be just one step away from assuming the dignity of seniors. F' n PHL K G- x sf, f S . ,. ., UZ. so ss W v r I 3 fr? Sociability is ours in sports and games. We, as members of G.A.A., believe that physical fitness makes living more enjoyable, that the physically fit individual has that confidence, courage, pride, and self-confidence which accompanies good morale. Our organization meets three times each month under the sponsorship of Miss Rutz, The board consisting of 12 girls, meets every month and sets up our activities. Tournaments are played in basket- ball, volleyball, and badminton. Jumping on the trampoline, tumbling, high jump, and table tennis are a few of the other activities. The money raised by G.A.A. is used to buy letters, pins, and trophies, for the girls who earn them by the point system. Five points are given for each hour of play. It is per- haps one of the newer sports fields in ROHS, being organized in 1948. The purpose of winter track is to give the non-basketball player who is interested in keeping in shape and who has the desire to be a track-man, an opportunity to do something besides wait until spring. While winter track offers little in the way of competition, it does offer an opportunity to exercise with weight, run, climb rope, and work out on the trampoline. Our squad consists of 20 boys this year, and it is hoped we can increase this to 30 or more. Max Woods Letterman SENIORS Don E. Johnson Jack Lasley Don L. It is hoped in the near future to have physical hygiene and a text book included in our program. Boys' physical education consists of a strength test, gymnastics testg rules instruction and written tests, term papers on sports, special projectsg tournaments in class and a semi intra-mural program in basketball, volleyball, and badminton. An excellent all-round program, is the desire of the physical education department, and giant strides toward that end have been made in the last three semesters. Our program now includes instruction and competition in gymnastics, volleyball, bowling, badminton, camping, drill team, and archery.
