Qfagg tlovofagecqo It is only fitting and proper that I should tell you the future of this marvelous class of 1948. I, who am, shall I say the most intelligent member. You all know Joyce Pratt was--well I won't say lazy, but never the sort to worry the teachersabout getting in- formation. She just sat in class and never opened her mouth except to yawn. Now I see her after graduating from High School, still sitting. The only reason she got her diploma in that she was so absolutely quiet they for got who she was. They filled out her name on the diploma, and when she, with a great effort, walked up to get it,'mey were all surprised, she at getting 1t,am.the teachers at finding out who she was. Now she just sits on the front porch and her mother dusts her off twice a week. ' Adrian Rogers in resting on his laurels, the first- time he's rested on anything for a long time. He was editor of the year book in High School and.presldent of the student body. He is planning, as he rests, to become president of his class in college, president of the Nat- ional Bank, and finally president of the United States. Of all the members of our class there was no one who stayed home so often for no good reason or who came late so frequently as Edna Earle Smith. Every time there was an exam. she had the toothache. Every time she was in a clay she had an earache. By alternating teeth and ears and staying home every third day, she managed to get, out of most of her work. How she gct through is a mystery 5 The year after she gets out of High School she becomes, believe it or not, the school truant officer. Jerry Powell, while in school, took everything that wnsn't nailed downg honor, the best seat in the class, and most of the attention of the teachers. Now I see him looking very cross and important ---- the town dogcatcher. The Door pooches were the only thlngslbft for him to get out and get. A J.T. Biggs ls, I see, a mechanical genius. At the tender age of eight he took his mother's sewing machine and his father's watch apart. Of course, he d1dn't put them together again, but why be so fussy over trifles? He has kept up the interest in the inside of things all through his life. Let us look at the future. Here he is in very becoming blue overalls, working as a plumber's assistant.
