The season started with the Boys ' 400 Relay consisting of Jeff Ferguson, Chris Saatzer, Brian Korell, and Greg Martin, winning at Huntley for the third year in a row. Jeff Ferguson finished at the heels of Forsyth ' s State Champion high hurdler every race. The girls ' 400 and 1600 Relays, consisting of Debby Connealy, Amy Fishburn, Jenifer Hallock, Julie Haley, Karen Kessler, Kerry Salveson, came in first at the Carbon County Meet.
