As far as possi- ble without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly 84 clearly, and listen to others, even the dull 81 ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud 81 aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain 84 bitter, for always there will be greater 8r lesser per- sons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble, it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is, many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity 84 disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, grace- fully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue 84 loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees 84 the stars, you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the uni- verse is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors 84 aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery 84 broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. Found in Old Saint Paul's Church Baltimore, dated 1692.

In Memoriam Wm.. On Friday, April 14, a dark cloud passed over Red Lion, as a community learned of the pass- ing of Jeanette L. Espenshade, a business education teacher at Red Lion Area Senior High School. The community would long remember her as she was active in church, civic, and chari- ty affairs. A native of the Middletown-Hershey area, Miss Espenshade had spent 28 of her 31 teaching years at Red Lion. In 1966, the Red Lion Jaycees proudly acknowledged her community service, presenting her with the second annual Distinguished Citizen Award. Red Lion Area No. 9703 5-16-72 lm 7. Miss Espenshade headed the Red Lion March of Dimes campaign for the National Founda- tion, and also chaired various fundraising events for the past several years. She freely assisted with the United Fund, Cancer Society, and Heart Association fund drives. But her community service did not stop there. Having been a member of Grace Lutheran Church, she sang on the choir, taught Sunday School, and headed the Lutheran Church Wom- en. She was past president, past director, and recording secretary of District 7 Red Lion Busi- ness and Professional Women's Club. She gave tirelessly of her time and energy as director of the Kaltreider Memorial Library.
