After Several Years of Service, We Dedica te Paul 1. Hangen Charles R. Nitchkey The Class of '72 is pleased to dedi- cate the 1972 Lion to Mr. Paul Han- gen, an inveterate teacher ofthe So- cial Studies Department. Mr. Hangen graduated from Al- bright College in 19305 that same year he began his teaching career at Stewartstown. Teaching for forty- two years, Mr. Hangen earned his Masters Equivalent in 1961. Mr. Hangen was the originator of many worthwhile projects here at Red Lion. Among these were the tennis team which he began in 1943 and coached for many years. He also started the Baseball for Boys pro- gram, and he has coached football and basketball as well. Mr. Hangen is now an active member ofSt. Paul's Church. There he has served on the Board of Trus- tees and as a Sunday School teacher. Mr. Hangen has also participated on the Red Lion Borough Council. Mr. Hangen's grandchildren are his prime joy, and he enjoys attend- ing plays with his wlje, too. With these hobbies, the .senior class wishes Mr. Hangen an enjoyable and profit- able retirement. The l972 Lion proudly salutes Mr. Charles Nitchkey after many years of service to the high school and community. Mr. Nitchkey, Red Lion's Director of Health, Recreation, and Athletics since 1931, was born in West Easton, Easton, Pennsylvania. Attending Wilson High School, he was very much interested in sports, especially basketball' and in his senior year he was captain of that team. Upon graduating from high school, Mr. Nitchkey attended East Stoudsburg State Teachers College, where he again received the great honor of being the cap- tain ofthe basketball team in his senior year. In 1940 he received his Masters degree from Penn State University. Mr. Nitchkey started his teach- i'ng career at Red Lion in 1929. Since that time he has coached such sports as football, basket- ball, track, volleyball, goM base- ball, and tennis. In appreciation for many years ofjine service, the Class of 1972 wishes Mr. Nitchkey success and best wishes on his retirement. 'ht

We, the class ofl 972, dedicate these pages to the memory of Karen Zumbrum and Steve Sny- der. Their growing personalities and warm friendly smiles will never be forgotten. Both Karen and Steve were active members in many of the music organizations at Red Lion. As the challenge ofthe adult world moves closer to us, let us be willing to accept the responsibilities that will confront us. Let us honor and respect those qualities that were Karen's and S teve's e honesty, companion- ship, and loyalty,' let us strive to achieve the goals that Karen and Steve would have reached.
