f , 1 P... Good ld Red Lion High The creation of a High School dates back to 1899. At that time the school was very small and there were only a few pupils. C. E. Smith was the first teacher. Later W. W. Stauffer was elected Principal of the Schools. At first there existed only a three-year course but the growth of schools and popula- tion necessitated a four-year course. Thus the High School was classified as a second class High School. In 1908 the Hill School' was built. This tended to accommodate the grow- ing student body. With the gradual development of the schools came the honor of a first class High School. Gradually new teachers and principals were elected and discharged and new and modern equipment was added. The growth in the number of students also necessitated a larger and better equipped High School. Thus the new Junior-Senior High School building, which stands on the corner of Charles and Henrietta streets, was erected. This fifteen-room school is equipped with a large library, a gymnasium, an auditorium, a Domestic Science Laboratory, and a Physics and Chemistry Laboratory. As a result, the teaching staff was increased. Thus we have the High School of today with Albert G. W. Schlegel as Supervising Principal and Harvey J. Becker as High School Principal. It was only yesterday when we entered Red Lion High School as Freshmen. We leave four years behind us, crowded full of pleasant experiences, to enter a world of wonders. But before we go, let us enjoy the memories of a happy past. And as the pages unfold, let us recognize the good that was enscrolled. When our future looms up in our sight, we will steel our minds to meet it. Well may we pause, and turn, and turn again With conscience true and clear, To pleasant thoughts of days gone by, The days of yester-year.
