Red Jacket endeavors in its first year of eleven man football proved to be re- soundingly successful as the Indians established their best record to date capturing sole possession of the championship for the first time in Red Jacket history. Our boys proved that a school the size of ours could produce a team equal to the task of competing with larger schools, making up for their lack of size with an abundance of spirit and aggressiveness. They proved again that it's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog that counts. Coaches Schaertl, Bonacquisti and Antonio have been Well pleased with the continual improve- ment in attitude, desire, aggressiveness and Willingness to work from year to year. Our graduating seniors will be greatly missed next year but these boys have helped Red Jacket to form a football tradition built upon hard Work, aggressiveness and fair play which their replacements will maintain. They defeated each of the other teams in the league at least once during the season. We consider this season a successful one, not only because of the number of victories but also be- cause of the progress made by many of the players in learning the techniques of basketball. Those moving up to the varsity next year are well experienced and should be a credit to the team. We be- lieve the success of the past season was due to hard work in practicing. As the year progressed, the team developed this motto :Sometimes out-scored, but never out-hustled, Sometimes defeated, but always good sports. STANDING: M. Hammer, C. Johnson, D. Lawrence, D. Since there are only two veterans who will not be returning this year, under the direction of Mr. Linsner, we again look forward to a season of victory, and another chance for the league trophy.
