HUAHDlH?ED EATHI These eight men are faced with the responsibility of establish- ing policies and acting upon matters of business in connection with the curricular and extra-curricular activities of Red Jacket Central School. They are to be commended for the amount of time which they contribute so generously and for their concerted effort to promote and maintain progress in the educational, social and cultural growth of our community. 7 ULHCS PEHI TENDE T Mr. Loveless is a familiar figure within the halls of our school. His manner is impressive, his smile friendly, his opinion of us- we hope-favorable! His message to students is: An education is the birthright of every American Child. The use of that education for the betterment of mankind is the responsibility of every Ameri- can adult. Mr. Douglas F. Estes This year the chief administrator at Red Jacket Central has been our principal and friend, Mr. Estes. By the time Mr. Estes had been at Red Jacket only a few days, everyone had learned that the new principal was very definitely a disciplinariau. However, it was also found that this man was very understanding, friendly and willing to lend a helping hand. We welcome Mr. Estes and trust that many classes in the future may he privileged to work and play under his guidance. Mr. Estes' message to students is: The real test of a school is the quality of student it turns out. We, of the faculty, have enjoyed working with you. We have faith that you will fulfill the promise you have shown here. IJ HPHINIIIP L Miss Mary Arnold Keuka College, B.S., Ed. M. All right, just settle down! Mr. Eugene Baileg St. Bonaventure, . A. They are a very enter- prising young group, having sponsored every- thing from a Bunny Hop to Minstrel Shows and Hayrides, and we're told that a Horror Play is now in progress. We may expect any- thin I The class is well represented in the band, the chorus, in joumalism and above all in art, that is art of a sort -definitely original and ahounding in caricature. There will be keen competition too for scholastic honors for we know of six among this group who have enviable academic records. Mr. Harkenrider and Mr. Bowen have admi- rably kept pace with their fast tempo and have directed and guided to the complete satisfaction and pleasure of the class. May the Juniors meet with success and happiness in their Senior year! U HJ IUH U ll SUPHU UHE5 These forty so homores claim the largest room in the buildjing as their head uarters, and what's more-they have two facullt mem- bers to account to each day. Can it he that they are so super-charged with energy that this is a necessary disciplinary measure? Such an erroneous idea must be contradicted, for one of their home room advisors insists that they make up the best class in the school and that they show great promise of scholas- tic achievement. We hope that she and her family will find happiness in our community. Ida has written a message for us in Rus- sian and in Ukranian. Translated, the words read: I like living in a Democracy. These students make up our Student Council, a body of which our school is very proud. This year our Student Council provided free transportation to the basketball games for the students of Red Jacket. This helped the stu- dents to know that their representatives were behind them. On December eighth, an oratorical contest was s onsored by the Student Council. Wil- liam VPanHerpe received a sweater for winning first place, his runner up, Ellen Stambach, re- ceived a school letter. We have endeavored to do a good job and are thankful for the cooperation of the faculty and also the student bo y. UH ETUIIE T EUUNEIL 34 ll Il 1 l BED .I i EKET TH ill, Preparing a yearbook is an undertakin which requires many long hours and mucg patience. Many heartbreaking setbacks such as bad photos and write-ups make the job even more difficult. Deadlines are a never- ending plague that the staff of a yearbook is constantly facing. This year, however, despite all these set- backs we feel that Red Jacket Trail is a sort of model that future generations at R.J.C. can look back on and be proud of. The new bound volume yearbook is certainly an im- provement over the paper type and it is, we feel, a must in such a school as dear old R.J.C. to match, at least in part, the quality of a school with the quality of its yearbook. What they lack in technic, they make up for in originality, and it is their hope that the quality of the paper may improve as they gain experience and instruction in the fundamentals of journalism. Rehearsals are held twice a week and Mr. Toft states that they are improving with each rehearsal. Many of the students are being primed to play in the Sr. Band next year. Eureka! It's done! These were the words uttered by Mr. Toft as he viewed the new modernistic band room which had just received its finishing touches. The novice band room has proved very efficient as far as Mr. Toft and the members of the band are concemed. Mr. Toft has embarked on another novelty project for R.J.C.S. The year of '50 marks the first time a R.J.C.S. hand has played Grade 5 music. A-1 rating at the annual contest is very much anticipated and would be very welcome. - This year the band hopes to make a trip to Albany. Several concerts were given this year, including assemblies at Victor and Phelps. A Mile of Pennies was instituted to build funds for expenses. To augment the fund, a turkey supper was held. 38 SE IUH Back Row: Bill O'Donnell, Howard Washburn, Danny O'Donnell, Jack Robyn, Lee Walbridge, Terry Christ- iansen, Justine Glover, William Flynn, Robert Potter, Carl Romeiser, Shirley Peters.
