Turn Backward, O Time Time has flown by quickly since the Class of '53 first made its introduction to the great field of education. With wide eyes, trembling knees and great im- aginations this group of curious, inquisitive youngsters waited for admittance into the wonderland of kindergarten. As time went on they grew more accustomed to their new life, and the wheels of progress began to hum to the tune of readin', writin', and 'rithmetic. Then finally the time came for this group to mount the stairs leading to high school. The up-stairs which had always been a source of amazement and curiosity be- fore, was now taking on a light of bewilderment for them. The next few years were spent in getting into the swing of things, and con- sequently, those who had not known the fullest meaning of the word homework, basketball games, intramurals, and class activities soon learned. The Fresh- man and Sophomore years were profitable ones, but it wasn't until their Junior year that activities really got under way with the preparing of the annual Junior supper. Highlights of the Senior year were the smashing hit Cheaper By The Dozen, a record breaking magazine campaign and the presenting of a magnificent pro- duction -- the 1953 Centralite. With thoughts toward the future, plans are being made for the conclusion of high school days of the Class of '53. But this is not the end of their history. Indeed, it is just the beginning of the flight into the future. Different ambitions and professions will carry 53's mem- bers far from their Alma Mater, but without hesitation they say Those were the best years of our lives. BACK ROW: L, to R. P. Brown, Mr. Richard Smith, F. Raiti, FRONT ROW: R. Wiggins, V. Jones. 12
