Text from Pages 1 - 168 of the 1980 volume:

Red Bud High School ... to everything there is a season i Turn, Turn, Turn To everything there is a season And a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to be born, a time to die; A time to plant, a time to reap; A time to kill, a time to heal; a time to laugh, a time to weep. A time to build up, a time to break down; A time to dance, a time to mourn; A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together. A time of love, a time of hate; A time of war, a time of peace; A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing. A time to gain, a time to lose; A time to rend, a time to sew, A time to love, a time to hate; a time of peace, I swear it's not too late. ... the 1980 Cereis Staff is proud to dedicate its publication to the class of 1980.. . ... for its thoughtfulness and consideration in assisting in the funding of the 1980 Cercis. What a dunce. Let's hear it Freshmen. Activities 77 “Love and Marriage” ... was a composite script taken from three full length plays — “Our Town,” “Lovers and Strangers,” and “Plaza Suite.” James Schneider and Linda Williams portrayed George and Emily. Bev Zschiegner and Steve Unverferth portrayed Norma and Ray. Mark Wilson and Lisa Buss portrayed Mike and Susan. The play was presented on Decem- ber 17 and 18. Normally the Dra- matics Club does not produce a fall play, but the success of the last spring production netted enough profit to finance the extra play. 78 M.A.S.H. ... was presented by the Dramatics Club on April 17, 18, and 19. The tragic comedy took place in the depths of South Korea, during the Korean War. The entire 4077th was turned into a three-ring circus when Hawkeye (Steve Unverferth) and Duke (Craig McCarthy) appear on the scene only to meet Trapper John (Mike Mesna- rich). Margaret (Karyn Andricks) and Janice (Kelly Seibert) also added to the craziness. The three night produc- tion was labeled a total success and was enjoyed by all those in attendance. 80 Student Council Week Real class! Let’s hear WipeOut! That's our glamour girls! 82 What’s this? On March 27, another year of debate came to an end for the R.B.H.S. debate squad. Looking back on the year, there were several successes. At the first tournament of the year, in early October, the varsity team of Tammy Prange and Kelly Seibert hinted of good things to come by breaking to semi-finals and each receiving speaker awards. At the 18th Annual Greater Belleville Debate tournament, they qualified for quarter-finals by beating tough northern competition. At the Red Bud tournament, the girls were the 3rd place team and again both received speaker awards. But the best victories came around Christmas. In December, Kelly and Tammy com- peted against 32 teams at the Parkway West Debate Tournament and never lost a round, winning the first place title. In January, at the Greater St. Louis Speech Association debate finals, the girls won again, ranking them number one in the St. Louis area. The novice debaters proved that they have much upcoming potential for the future years when they won 2nd place at the Parkway Central tournament. Dale and Dan also won 3rd at Pattonville's tourney. 105 Band ... its harmony strives for togetherness 1st Row: Marilyn Hooten. Suzanne Melliere. Brenda Guebert, Patty McCutcheon.
