Ued Hud mSch0°l Certis lied dud. Jdiuois 1961 foreword Americans are giving much thought to the best means of preserving the liberties which we have so long cherished. High on the list is education; a well-informed and en- lightened citizenry is one of the best pro- tections of a democracy. Let us preserve and expand our educational system to meet the challenge of our present times. We dedicate this Cercis to our teachers, past and present, who have been the light which has guided our footsteps along the path of learning. These things shall be - a loftier race Than e'er the world hath known shall rise With flame of freedom in their souls And light of knowledge in their eyes. SUPERINTENDENT A. N. Trammell PRINCIPAL A. Roger Hartmann, Leo Deterding, Glenn Zipfel, John DeLuca, Mike Phegley Mike Phegley, Gloria Ell- ner, Dennis Kruse, Mary Ann Kueker, Don Doiron, Lois Miller Spring Play ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, by Joseph Kesselring, was a comedy wherein two old ladies, out of kindness to homeless old men, offered them a rather potent drink that assured them lasting peace. PROMPTERS: Joyce Warren and Diane Mesnarich receive a workout during re- hearsals. Teddy, played by Gary Brand, worked hard on the Panama Canal ; Carolyn Nei- meyer, an old maid, conspired with her sister; Allan Liefer, a not-too-astute cop; Susie Miller, a Mr. Witherspoon whose curtain scene was really the end; and Floyd Patterson, playing two roles, contributed to the success of the play. Karen Hogan, an old maid with an elderberry wine recipe that was a knockout; Jerry McCarthy, a drama critic; and Judy Dinan, a sophisticated preacher's daughter, re- hearse a scene together. Prompter, Mary Ann Kueker, helps Myron Liefer, a not-too- astute cop; Dennis Kruse, a Dr. Einstein not too good at algebra, but a whiz at plastic surgery; and Ronnie Zipfel, a homicidal mani- ac, as the director, Mr. Lochner, looks on. basketball BACK ROW: Herbert Boyster, Barry Korvas, Edgar Rehmer, Alden Wiegard, Fred Jones.
