WIM TEAM I BACK' Becoming a new addition to the sports program after a 3-year absence the Swim Team came back with the same amount of talent and energy as shown in the past. Tryouts for the team began January 20 and this produced a large number of fine swimmers. Prac- tices daily after school improved the team s perfor- mance in many ways. these include the times in both the 50 and IOO-yard distances and almost IOOZ, im- provement in their strokes and turns. The freestyle butterfly and medley-freestyle re- npt the Swim Team will reach number one still re- mains to be seen. Commented Coach Brennan I thoroughly enjoy coaching swimming and being able to develop my own style of doing it-not being compared to previous coaches at the high school. I also couldnt ask for finer facilities. lays being the team's strongest events, whether or CD Team members prepare for the start of the race. PARTAN LA D FRESHME BASKETBALL Placing second in the NAL, the mighty Spartanland Frosh Basketball Team proved to be one of the best teams in their league. With an overall record of I3-2 and a point average of 54.8 points per game our freshmen could do no wrong. The frosh started their season winning the Nova Tour- nament the second time a frosh team from Red Bluff had won the championship in ar years. After that win the team had difficulty improving their performance because they played so well. However they managed to maintain their aggressiveness and played to their potential most of the season. starters but also the bench displayed sound fundamental basketball skills. Commented Coach Skrabo I was thoroughly pleased with the team s attitude and performance. They played well together and exhibited mental toughness.
