SPARTANLAND'S FOOTBALL CHEERLEADERS, a dedicated bunch of girls, brave all kinds of weather, lust as the boys' teams do. They work together to get their cheers coordinated and their bodies in shape much the same as any other Spartanland team. Their dedication does not stop there howev- er as they also must pay for expensive uniforms and cheerleading camps. According to cheerleader advisor Mrs. Pat Car- penter Each uniform costs approximately SIOO. Each cheerleader earns this money through the var- ious fund raisers sponsored by the association. An additional expense cheerleading camp runs over SIOO. for four days. Mrs. Carpenter went on to say that camp was well worth the expense because the girls learn so much there. Our squad was the best I ve ever been on. We got along didn t fight and were really close friends. This year's basketball cheerleaders had lots of fun doing their cheers and skits but it s also very hard work. They put in long hours of working to get their uniforms and to be able to go to camp. Varsity cheerleaders went to a cheerleading camp in Tahoe. They brought a spirit stick and trophy home with them. The J.V. squad went to UC Davis and came back with many ribbons. All of the girls had enthusiasm at the Spartan games and rallies.
