Text from Pages 1 - 144 of the 1957 volume:

! 0 6 6 As I stand here on the threshold of adulthood I cast my eyes heavenward for Your tender guidance. I ask of You, dear Jesus, to help me to put away all my child- ish whims and desires and to grasp that which is ex- pected of me as an adult. Take my hand and lead me across the stepping stones that lead from childhood to adulthood. Help me to take each step with an awareness of Your love for me. Should I let my weakness overpower me, dear Jesus, and I fall, give me the courage to start again as You did three times on the way to Calvary. Let me always make headway and never let me look hack or try to take the easy way out when temptations of youth befall me. May Your Divine Way of the Cross be a constant reminder for me as I meet the many obstacles a youth must encounter in becoming a God- loving man. Then, dear Jesus, when I have successfully completed the long journey from childhood to adulthood may I be able to look back and see my youth as something pure— the pure memory of Your ever-loving protection of me. Amen. I m The Class of 1957 RED BANK CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL RED BANK, NEW JERSEY Pn bestti. . . . CONTENTS TITLE PAGE FOREWORD...................5 DEDICATION ADMINISTRATION . . L. Haskins Strong hands can do many things —protect, work, play. In innumerable ways, they can help man and glorify God. But hands can only be truly strong when they are strong with the strength of God. When we came to Alma Mater, she put our eager, anx- ious hands into the hands of God. Then she taught us to pray and work and play. These hands of the Class of 1957 have fon- dled rosaries, grasped pigskins, leafed through books, exam- ined specimens, made the Sign of the Cross, claimed trophies with that reverence born of Catholic education. Now, in a final embrace, we clasp Alma Mater to our hearts with those same hands made strong with her ideals. We leave her, but we take her spirit into a world which has no hope. We go out into the darkness knowing that, some- how, our hands in His will make the future trust in us -its youth. dicati on We, a small but dedicated influence in the destiny of America, offer tbis yearbook to you, Sister Mary Agnese, in gratitude for your trust in us, the youth of Red Bank Catholic. Your leadership during this year as principal of our Alma Mater has brought us to the realization that we must make a return for this trust. We must give to our Church, our community, our country—'indeed, our world —a security born of the seeds of training in which you played such a vital role as our past guidance counselor. Your faith has encouraged our hearts to be generous and our hands to be willing. It has made us unafraid to,set our sights on high ideals and virtuous ambitions. With a youthful joy, we gathered these happy memories for you. With adult appreciation, we now offer them to you as the first fruits of a grateful maturity.
