Youth... treasure possessed by all, but retained by few— magic color wheel that splashes all experience with hues, new, exciting, different, gay beloved by men, blessed by Jesus, Mary, Joseph. Must we let you go ere we leave the doors of Alma Mater? Must we turn to memories? cherished particles of the sands in our hourglass of time: our first day as seniors of the school; the glory of an undefeated team; the thrill of running council, clubs, staffs, committees; the gala Christmas closing; the jitters of exams; the peace of retreat; the make-believe of the play; the quickening of our hearts at graduation practice; then, the day of our departure—the opening of a new door to life and the closing of the door on things we loved. D E D I C A T I O N To tke Holy Family One of the sweetest things about memories is being able to share them with those we love ... to have those loved ones laugh with us, cry with us, turn back the years with us. So we invite you, dear family, to join us in dedicating these memories, in our 1955 Emerald, to the perfect family, the Holy Family of Nazareth. Saint Joseph, Protector of the Holy Family, guide us and our families on the difficult journey towards Eternal Commencement. Blessed Mother, Heart of the Holy Family, take us under your mantle and teach us to love your Divine Son as we should. Show us the virtues of purity and obedience you practiced every day at Naza- reth, and some of the joy you experienced when holding the Infant Jesus close to your heart. Child Jesus, in our unthinking youth, we have disappointed You so often. Forgive us, and help us to render to our parents, whether they be in Heaven with You or here with us, the love and respect due them. Holy Family, Model of every Christian home, help us to mold the families of the future like unto your blessed pattern. 6
