Our commencement year coincides with your Marian Year, Sweet Virgin Mother, and to us, your graduates, it seems a special token of your love. Our four years of high school have been worked by special spiritual significance. We entered the portals of Red Bank Catholic invigorated with the indulgeuces of the Holy Year. During our underclass years, your Divine Son continued to shower His graces upon us with an extension of the Holy Year privileges, and with a revision of Eucharistic laws that urged us to receive Him even more often than before. Now, in your thoughtfulness, Dear Mother, you give us the added grace of a very special graduation gift . . . your Marian Year. As a small note of heartfelt appreciation, we honor you, dear Mother, throughout the pages of this EMERALD. just as you urged Heaven not to forget us during the past four years, so we recall your good- ness in each section of these blessed memories. Then, as a still greater proof of our love and loy- alty to both you and your Divine Sou, we promise to remember you at each future milestone in our lives: in the sacredness of our wedding days, in the blessed- ness of our childrens' baptisms, in the nobility of our life-long labors, in the holy happiness of the homes that we shall establish, please Cod. Mary, to whose care jesus, in the person of His Pon- tiff, has commended the youth of the world, help us! 4 Jr - r L s i E.: M Sk .Q 5' W . N A f ' lm! just as the life of every good Catholic has been permeated with the ideals and graces of this Marian Year, so, too, our Emerald, in its many different facets, reflects the beauty of the Lady of Heaven. What, then, could be more fitting than this dedi- cation to a man of Cod whose life has been spent in the service of Mary, Queen of Heaven and of Earth? Monsignor Monahan, the short time that you have been with us has told a great story of love, virtue, dedication and achievement. Your life, your Mass, your work, your awareness of God have made our souls strive upward in the desire of imitation. It is only natural then that we, the Class of 1954, proudly and humbly dedicate our Emerald to you, Monsignor. Be assured that, although 'we leave Alma Mater, we shall gratefully and prayerfully remember your goodness to each of us. May the Blessed Lady Mary continue to watch over you with love down all the future years. UHTIUZIQ 1 . Y! EQ, 'Wu 111 Q PAIR' rn Y ev? Con- vert the Wicked, dry the tears of the ufilicted and oppressed, comfort the poor and humble, quench hatreds, swecten harshness, safeguard the flower of purity in youth, protect the Holy Church, make all men feel the attraction of Christian goodness. In your name, re- sounding harmoniously in heaven, may they recognize that they are brothers, and that the nations are members of one family, upon which may there shine forth the sun of a universal and sincere peace.
