'fi J : r s'd t Herbert Frcvwson t ' t ' e ' - ' t Jerry Schultz ,L nt' r e t Nancy Cole ci ' rf . cs r ii t'g,f N hrt Clcss f-no r r, ' Our High School Activities FRESHMAN YEAR n the evening of September 24 we were Initiated by the seniors Previously we had to wear green caps for two days before the ll'llllOl'lOl'l and also to come dressed in costume to school Friday Our main social event of the year was our class party on the evening of May 6 The seniors were our guests and the evening was spent in dancing Sally Wlllms was our carnival candidate for Carnival Queen SOPHOMORF YEAR The high light of the year was the dance on October l4 i955 We also had a roller skating party at Cooks Roller Rink on April 3 Both were successful and enloyed by all Janice Hendrix was our carnival candidate for Carnival Queen JUNIOR YEAR On November 29 30 we presented our class play Our Hearts Were Young and Gay It was a three act comedy On the evening of April 27 we honored the seniors with a Junior Senior Prom The theme was Club 58 featuring the Starlight Room A great deal of time effort and planning went into making our prom a success Nancy Cole was our carnival candidate for Carnival Queen SENIOR YEAR Our first activity as seniors was the initiation of the freshmen On March 27 28 we presented our class play Strictly Formal It was a three act comedy We were honored with the banquet and prom put on by the Junior class on the evening of April l2 Other activities of the seniors were Seniors Day Career Day at Wilbur on April 23 and the Senior Dinner for the Seniors and their parents Our last and most important events were Baccalaureate and Commencement Our class was active all four years in various activities such as FF A Athletics Girls League band and chorus PLAY CAST Jane Karen Reilly Mrs Tilton Janice Hendrix Sa y Joan Kinservrk Josie Tilton Connie Ort Agnes Judy Hein E roy Dick Kamm Andrew Cutler John Peek George Lemar La Fontaine Nettie Cutler Barbara Foryan Marcia Virginia Triplett Mr Ahern Bob Plotts Cindy Collins Kathy Mahrt Jim Ed Lynch Marilyn Nancy Cole Rose Tilton June Rhoads Lt Bob Cunningham Herbert Franson Director Mr McKay , . 1 L , . . , . . . 11 1 11 - Both the band and chorus partici- pated. Twelve schools were involved in this event, The Chorus group sang with the rest of the Massed Festival Choruses under the direction of Mr, Milton Johnsons The band participated in the Massed Festival Bond under the direction of Mr. Robert Miller. This year also is the first time our chapter has ever had a state officer. Our Parliamentary Procedure Team went much further this year than ever before. Our annual Harvest Ball held October 25 was again a success, The ioint Chapter and Greenhancl initiation was held at Harrington on October 29. The Harrington Davenport and Reardan Chapters participated. We constructed a safety booth for the Spokane Interstate Fair which can also be used in the future. Jerry Cox scored TOO and Jerry Schultz scored 97 in the Quiz sponsored by the Washington State Council of Farmer Cooperatives. Jerry Cox was selected as one of two Lincoln County boys to attend a camp sponsored by the American Society of Range Management and also as the winner of the Union Pacific Carl Raymond Gray Scholarship for Lincoln County. Dick Kamm was chosen to receive the Holstein Award. He was one of four boys in the state to receive this expense paid trip to all the top Holstein farms in the state. A number of boys participated in a large number of programs at Grange Lions and P.T.A. meetings. Jerry Cox Ken Ahlf Wayne Rattroy and Herb Franson were advanced to the degree of State Farmer at the State Convention, Ken Ahlf and Jerry Cox ran for state office and Wayne Rattray was our official delegate. Dennis Fiess was a member of the State F.F.A. Band. The first contest was at the Lincoln County Fair Where the team placed third. At Colfax, Reardon placed tvvelfth. The Reardon team placed twelfth out of thirty-one teams at the Spokane lnterstote Fair. We cante in eighth out of fifty-two teoms participating ot the Yakima State Fair, Reardon also won the second in iudging l-lolsteins at this contest, Ken Ahlf was tenth high boy of the contest. At Pullman the team placed eleventh out of the thirty-six teams that competed. The Reardon team placed fourth at Ritzville, At Colfax they won the third place banner out of the ten teams thot entered. Tom Robinson placed seventh in individual scor- ing. Afternoon events in which the Reardan boys had the top team scores were, crops iudging, a shop contest and a general agri- cultural contest. The morning events were tractor driving, land iudging and livestock judging, The Reardon shop contest team of Jerry Schultz, Herb Franson and David Ensor won their contest and placed first, second and third individually in that order, Five Rear' dan boys placed in the top ten in the crops iudging contest, Ken Koch was second: Bob Clouse, sixth, Gene Nance, seventh, Bob Jones, ninth, and Ken Ahlf, tenth. Wayne Rattray topped all contestants in the General Agricultural Contest, with Chester Hanson placing third and Bob Snow, seventh. The only events in which entries were limited were tractor driving in which but one boy from eacn school could enter, and the shop contest in which a three-man team per school could participate.
