“Mrs. Rosalyn Epstein was more than merely a guid¬ ance counselor to our class; she was a part of it. At class functions, such as apple picking or dances, which were scarcely supported by seniors themselves, one could always find Mrs. Epstein. She was with us during our good days, laughing and joining in the fun we had together as a class. She was also there when our days were not so bright and cheery. She supported and helped many of us and gave us the strength to go on. For all of us, through our ups and downs during the four years, she saw us grow from youngsters to young adults ready to face the world and leave our marks on it. Looking back, we can remember and appreciate the mark Mrs. Epstein has left on each of us, from fresh¬ man year introductions to senior year goodbyes. Who will forget that first shaky step into the guidance office freshman year? You checked the appointment slip you received in homeroom one last time to be sure it was your name, today’s date, and the right time. “Why do they want me in here?’’ many of us asked ourselves. Mrs. Epstein’s goal is to show each and every student what the guidance office is for, so that each will lose his fear of it and feel welcome. Well, by the time senior year rolled around, our attitudes toward the guidance office had definitely changed. We waltzed constantly in and out of there, all fears gone. Mrs. Epstein accomplished her goal, but her efforts by no means ended there. Take those infamous Wednesday morning announcements . . . the senior class groaned, then listened to the rush of talk that ended with, “Thanks, Mrs. E.” We groaned at the thought of hours of tedious work we had to do answer¬ ing long, sometimes ridiculous questions in order to complete college applications before the deadlines. How many of us would have made that deadline if we weren’t reminded of it? How many of us would be where we are now? Mrs. Epstein’s untiring energy and cheerfulness, while consistently working harder than anyone ever expected, is the result of her caring about us. She wants nothing but the very best for each member of the class of 1983. Why else would she scamper down the halls with a smile on her face on a Monday morning? For all her time, help, patience, and especially the love she extended to all of us over our four years at R.M.H.S., we are in debt to Mrs. Epstein. Thanks Mrs. E. The Class of 1983. 7
