DEDICATION LEONARD F. D ' ORLANDO Our class did not know Mr. D ' Orlando as an educator, but in the past four years many of us have met this man as an assistant principal and, finally, in 1978 he became Leonard D ' Orlando, principal. Ordinarily the title of a person is irrelevant, for it is the man and not the job to whom we are attracted. This principle remains: Mr. D ' Orlando does, indeed, maintain an excellent rapport with a great number of our class. And yet we must look beyond our friendship with the man and see the professional. In the short time since he has been principal, Mr. D ' Orlando has initiated several programs and acted upon many ideas to help make R.M.H.S. a better place to be. He has been more-than-successful and kept his visibility. We would like to thank our principal by dedicating Pioneer 1979 to Leonard D ' Or¬ lando. 4
KENNETH J. FEIT DEDICATION Occasionally, just at the point when school seems incredibly dull and life amaz¬ ingly complex, someone steps in, points out alternatives, provides understanding, and promises hope. Kenneth Feit has been that person to many students at R.M.H.S. The inspiration found daily in his class, the time given to comment in each student ' s journal, the conversations he held often with individuals: these aspects of his character struck up an interest in Mr. Feit as a person, an interest which carried over into a concern about what he had to say, for Ken Feit does indeed have much to say. His knowledge of the language and of literature is obvious, but it is the way in which he presents this knowledge that is truly special. Every point is related to life experiences, and because of his own travels, Mr. Feit has no trouble showing this to his classes. It is not only in the academic world that Ken Feit has been influential. Athletics are important to him also. He is the person responsible for the R.M.H.S. Outing Club, and he has aided many athletes by coaching Spring Track. Kenneth Feit has, in various ways, given a great deal of himself to many mem¬ bers of our class. We thank him and proudly dedicate our yearbook to him, his ideals, and the impact he has had on us as individuals. 5
