FGREWORD Each year, in high schools all over the country, mil- lions of boys and girls are either beginning or completing a high school career. For those just beginning, there are three years of school to look forward to-some of the happiest days of their lives: sports, dances, student government participation, dates, new acquaintances, lasting friendships, as well as greater intimacy with the world of books, increasing depth in thinking, and broadening viewpoints. For those graduating, there are. fond memories in the backward glance and the lure of the unknown in the way that lies ahead: college, jobs, business ventures. ln this book, we introduce, lack and lill, typical high- school students. They are you and you and you, ln each sec- tion of our book, lack and lill appear in class, at club, on the varsity, in orchestra and chorus, in fact wherever Reading High School students gather. We hope that their off-the-record per- formances will help to give to you, our readers, an interesting picture of our school life and of this year of our graduation.
