16. Vice-Principal More than a century ago, cn a farm in a neighboring county of Pennsylvania, there grew a lofty hickory tree. One day, great-grandfather felled the tree, cut the trunk into desirable lengths, and laid the wood carefully away to season. Great- grandfather was a cabinet maker, When the lumber was just right for working, he took the meagre and humble tools of a former generation and with them fashioned a sturdy and beautiful armchair which today is one of my cherished possessions The old craftsman devoted himself whole heartedly to his task and wrought so that his efforts might not perish In shaping our lives have we used material that will weather the years? l-fave We the spirit of high endeavor the strength of character the patience the industry the hope the hard hood that made our forebears 'nighty men? Class of 1944 many of us like grandfather s chair are products of this community May we ever be proud of this our heritage and may we be persons of whom our community in turn may be Justly proud Let us cultivate the qualities that well seasoned will en the qualities that well seasoned will endure Jlflzldrcd 8 Kunycon Vice puma.
