OZGWOZ IN THE YEAR OF A GREAT WORLD WAR, WE HAVE MET VARIED PROBLEMS, MANY SIMILAR TO THOSE WHICH THE ADULT WORLD HAS FACED. THESE HAVE BROUGHT US CLOSER TO THE REALI- TIES OF LIFE, AND MADE US AWARE OF THE PLEASANTNESS OF OUR CAREFREE SCHOOL LIFE. WE KNOW IT IS FOR SCHOOLS SUCH AS OURS, AND FOR ALL THAT MEANS MOST TO US, THAT THIS WAR IS BEING FOUGHT. SINCE IT IS REASONABLY CERTAIN THAT THE WORLD AFTER THIS WAR WILL BE DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE WE KNOW, WE WISH TO MAKE OUR BOOK A REVIEW IN PIC- TURES OF THE SCHOOL AT LARGE IN ITS FORMAL AND INFORMAL. ACTIVITIES, RATHER THAN A CONVENTIONAL RECORDING OF EVERY INDIVIDUAL. WE HOPE THAT THIS BOOK WILL TELL THE STORY OF THE SCHOOL IN THE YEAR OF OUR GRADUATION.,

MARGARET YOST -A' TO THE CLHSS OF1943 -k As you leave the halls of your Alma Mater richer for the knowledge you have gained, the friendships you have found, the happy memories you now possess, and enter a World overshadowed by the gloom and depression of war, it is the sincere wish of your sponsors that you have the courage and spiritual strength to face the 'future with calmness and confidence. Hold fast to the knowledge that the disciplined life is bound to win. Remember that love is stronger than hate, faith greater than doubt. The Words of Louis Pasteur to some young people at the Sorbonne might well present a challenge to the class of 1943: Do not let yourselves be discouraged by the sadness of certain hours which pass over nations. Say to yourselves first: 'What have l done for my instruction? And as you gradually advance, 'What have I done for my country'?' until you may have the immense happiness of thinking that you have contributed in some way to the progress and good of humanity.
