Left End When we think of Otto in football uniform, we think of a man that could stop an end run. He was ready for the whistle at any time. It would have been hard for his team to have gotten along without him. JAMES ABBOTT. RiRht Half James made a fine start in football this season as any coach could ask for until his shoulder was injured. He is a man that can be depended upon at any time to do his best. His best Kames were those of Delhi and Lake Providence. With his fireinK determination and overflowinK with eaRerness in every game will make any opponent watch every step. James will be on the list of the first call next season. TAYLOR RODGERS. Left Guard Tpylor was ready vo do his part either on offense or defense. Taylor didn ' t have much to say, but his team-matts knew that they could always depend on their left guard. He played a wonderful game in the Oak Grove game. A. C. CARROLL. Right End A. C. was one of the strongest defensive men on the team. Some of hjs best games were the Bastrop and Monroe games. He will be a member of the strong defensive force next year. He is a player that we can always depend upon. Lasley Downes is passing: the ball to Julian Spruell in the Oak Grove game Page Eighty-three

With preat easerness in that game he gets great credit for the victory. His famous tack- ling: and his powerful line plunging did not cease Ihioughout the season. George will be ready in full force next reason. He got an all state mention. JULIAN SPRUELL, Left Tackle Julian wasn ' t out of the game at any time. He played offensive left end in the hardest games. Julian made some of his best plays in the Oak Grove and Monroe games when he stopped line bucks and opened the line for D. Mitchell to make a thirty-five yard run for a touchdown. KELLY SPRUELL. Right Half Kelly was noted for his pass work and end run- ning. His clipping ability always will be remem- bered r.s he demonstrated in the Oak Grove game when he clipped the flashie quarterback off his feet as Downes completed his run. He gained his greatest fame as a football player when he tried to win the last victory for his Alma Mater in the Monroe game. NATHAN BUK. Center Nay is the center that we will all remember. He didn ' t make an error during the season in passing the ball back. He seemed to have enjoyed reaching down and catching those boys as they would try for a line buck. Nay would always keep his line men on their feet and made them work as no one else could do. Kelly Spruell makes a fifteen yard gain around Oak Giove left end. David Mitchell. George Mitchell and Lasley Downes running interference. r ?= . Page Eighty-two
