ports o 0 The athletic year at R.J.H,S, started with a bang for both the 8th and 9th grades. The freshman after creaming South Junior at the High School Stadium, ended with our schools first undefeated season. The football season for the 8th graders end ed with a 2-win, 2-ties, and 1-loss recordg that one going to Pittnian. 0 0 Our 8th and 9th grade teams, as a whole, had a fairly good season. The 8th grade had a record of 8-wins and 6-losses while the freshman ended with 9-wins and 9-losses. Highlights for the 9th grade tearn were: taking 3'rd place in the Babtiste Tournarnent, breaking the 72 point record for total points in one ganfie by 4 points and Jim Turner breaking the Z9 point record for the inost points scored by a single player in a game by 8 points. Bradfield's, Cesar's, and Grounds'fine rebounding, Soltys' hustle, and Tur- ner's high scoring should receive recognition. The 8th grade team, though hampered by height, put in a lot of hard work and desire to make a real fine team. Parker, I-leckman, Postalwait and Knight were notible players. 0 Q Both of the Raytown Junior track teams have put forth niuch effort which has paid off. One of the biggest surprises of the track season is freshman Steve Snelling who ran the mile in under 4 minutes and 50 seconds. The top 5 boys on the 8th grade squad are: Wade, Tebbencamp, Russell, Parker, and Postlewait. T l Is, I .. M ge 1 . e'22' 11 -P 'Q .NPKTQ 7: yi: ' ,U ' 4 ' gi? - I. H +149 S ,Q ..:. ,al-5.
