Dorothy and her ,little dog Todo stop to rest on the yellow brick road. The Wicked Witch of the West conspires against Dorothy and her friends. By Exhibiting Both Tragedy and Comedy Every year Baytown High School, Raytown South High School, and UMKC each present a play for the children of this area. These plays not only pro- vide an afternoon of entertain- ment, but also are an introduc- tion to the stage for many children. The proceeds go to the local P.T.A.'s. This year Raytown pre- sented the Wizard of Oz, the story of a young girl named Dorothy and her adventures in the land of Oz. On their way to find the Wizard of Oz. Dorothy and her brainless friend, the scarecfow, find the Tin Woodsman, who wants to ask the Wiz- ard for a heart.

This story, by Ferber and Kaufman, tells of the many young girls who flock to New York City each year to become actresses. By combining the hard work of the many students on the pro- duction staff and in the cast, Stage D001 was an excellent play which attracted capacity crowds.
