Tina Barnard The l980-8l Pom-Pon Squad was chosen in April of the last school year. The l2 members that were chosen worked very hard all year. In June they attended drill team camp at Missouri Valley College in Marshall. The girls won the N.C.A. Spirit Stick two out of the four nights spent there and also brought back lots of rib- bons. They learned many new dances and spirit-raising ideas. During football sea- son the squad performed with the March- ing Band at halftime of home games. They also marched in the American Royal Parade. Basketball games and wrestling meets were performed at alternately. Some routines were done to songs such a5; Animal House, Funky Town, Sur- fin' Safari, Jungle Love, and Tusk. In December a Pom-Pon Clinic was held as a money-raiser for uniforms and camp. They taught the grade and middle school girls a routine of their choice and then evaluated them and handed out ribbons. This gave upcoming high school girls a Chance to find out what being on the Squad was all about. 2. Performing at outdoor pep assembly. 3. Kary Bennett performing. 4. Animal House. Pom-Pon SqualeS

They cheered their team all the way to the a ' ' Regionals tState Quarter Finals; The captain and co-cap- tain for this year's squad were Senior Stephanie Rogers and Deana Lawless. The girls attended the All Star Cheer- leading camp at Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri, where they recieved second place in overall Varsity Competition. They also recieved a Spirit Star, 7 indicating most spirit in one particular day. This year was the beginning of the use of Pep Pals. During the football season Pep Pals would decorate the football and volleyball players' lockers. They all seemed to enjoy the treats and the special attention. I. At the last Pep Assembly the. underclass cheerleaders Warsity FootbalD presented the senior cheerleaders with a rose. 2. Jennifer Rogers cheers at one of the out door football Pep Assemblies. 3.
