LITERATURE - MR. KENSINGER Literature is a semester course designed to provide students with a wide variety of reading en- richment experiences. Most reading is centered around a National Scholastic Literature unit that contains an anthology, 6 novels studied in groups and 30 novels to be read as each student chooses. Emphasis is placed on class discussion and free exchange of ideas after the initiary class Work has been completed. METAL SHOP - MR. CALVELLO An exploratory course giving experiences in industrial processes, consumer education, and vocational opporttmities i.n the field of metal work. KV!! 50 LIBRARY - MRS. SULLIVAN Library assistants are chosen from qualified students to assist with general op- erating procedures necessary in running a library. For seventh graders it is an extra curricular activity. Eighth graders, how- ever, may take it as an elective and serve as period librarians. Both groups are granted an award, have multiple checkout privileges, get first choice at new books, and eighth graders take an annual trip to Stanford University Library. MECHANICAL DRAWING - MR. CALVELLO Drafting I and II are offered as an elec- tive to seventh and eighth grade boys and girls. This course covers the fundamentals of mechanical drawing through complete working drawings. Architectural drawing is included in the second semester.

HOOKER Develop poise before an audienceg pos- ture and breath control activities, pantomime oral interpretation, monogueg skills, one-act play. foods from each of the four basic food groups. We also gain experience in table setting, meal planning and preparation, buying food, preparing convenience foods, and for JOURNALISM - MRS. COLLINS A semester course designed to give staff mem- bers experience with gathering school news, writing stories, cutting stencils, spacing stories, all of which lead to the publication of the school paper, the Trojan Tribune 'Qrsgpgww eign foods. rilamae GERMAN - MRS. HOOKER Basic skills of oral expressiong posture, breath control and dictiong preparation and delivery of expository, persuasive and formal speeches, formal debateg practice in both extemporaneous and prepared delivery. ADVANCED WOODSHOP - MR. SULLIVAN Advanced woodshop presents the oppor- ity to create something new. Shop II and III students may select from a variety of ard woods and the use of power tools makes he job a little easier. I I l, 51 PHYSICAL SCIENCE - MR. SAMUELSON Serious.................. 1. Research to confirm that the rate of diffusion is related to the average size of the molecules. 2. Measuring the relative molecular rate of gaseous diffusion. Otherwise ................ 1, Lab scene showing how to confuse the enemy. 2. Be patient, we'1l find the antidote. SPANISH I1 - SR. TALMAN Eighth grade Spanish is the equivalent of Spanish I at the high school level. The course stresses both conversational and written Spanish. Students are expected to carry on a limited conversation, know the basic grammar and be able to give oral presentations. Prerequisite for the course is a grade of not less than a B in seventh grade Spanish and the recommendation of the instructor.
