AssembI5 Programs On Thursday October 13th Doctor Don P Hawkms Professor journalism and Engllsh at Shurtleff College in Alton v1s1ted R H S Doctor Hawkms gave a talk on Great Personahtxes I Have Met ln closing the program Doctor Hawkins played on the piano his own mterpretatlon of The Rosary Morrmson s Medltatxon and a medley Reverend Fletcher Pastor of the Raymond Method1st Church was a guest speaker at the lugh school on Thursday November 10th H15 talk was about Armlsttce Day why and how we should celebrate It and vmvmdly recalled mczdents of the celebratwn of the fxrst Armzstlce Day m Spr1ngf1eld llllnoxs Father Speeman Pastor of St Raymond s Cathollc Church addressed the student body on the subject Thanksgwmg on Wednesday November Znd At the close of Father Speeman s talk he asked the student body to Jom hmm mn slngmg God Bless Amenca On Aprxl 27th Reverend Wendler Pastor of the Trxmty Lutheran Church 1n I-Iarvel gave a talk to the student body The subject of Reverend Wmdler s talk was Thmkmg On December Zlst an assembly program was gmven ln the gyrn by s1ng1ng Chrmstrnas carols led by Marlene Bockew1tz. and joan Wh1te A book rev1ew T was the N1ght Before Chrmstrnas was enacted by the teachers w1th Mrs Rosemary Hanna as reader The Mornsonvmlle Band enterta1ned the Raymond I-hgh School wmth an assembly program on February 16th The music teacher Mr Ball dxrected the band and three baton tw1rlers performed durmg the playmng of the march select1ons The Men s Glee Club from Greenv111e College Greenvxlle presented a short program of mus1c at Raymond Hmgh School on March 7th The Glee Club wh1ch has thtrty s1x members IS under the d1rect1on of Professor Clark M Brant Bzg Brother and Szster Day On May 17th Raymond H1gh School played host to e1ghth grade students from the ne1ghbor1ng grade schools of the Umt D1str1ct Mormng classes were shortened and a plcmc lunch was held at noon In the afternoon the Future Freshmen were entertamed by rnovmes a musm program and a prevww of the various orgamzatmons act1v1t1es All School Party The flrst all school party was held ln the gymnasmm on March 3rd All students and the faculty employees and thelr famllles were 1nv1ted The theme of the party was St Patrick s Day Irxsh sklts Ir1sh games and Travel made most enjoyable entertamment for the evemng M1ss Thompson Mr Shelton and Mr Mullen superv1sed the entertainment M1ss Grantham supervmsed the Refreshment Comrrnttee 41 ,Y ' , , . Jun :or Sen zor Banquet The jumor Class entertamed the Semors at a formal banquet at the Frlsxna Hotel in Tay1orv1lle May 20th A Hawauan theme was carried out in the decoratlons and program A Sw1ss steak dmner was served to e1ghty fwe guests after which a group pmcture was taken the Welcome by Wayne Lanter jumor Class presldent and a Response by V1rg1n1a Monke Semor Class pres1dent vocal solos by Mr R C jones and joe Mlzera and a flute solo by James Murphy Also featured on the program was the readmg of the class hxstory class poem class w11l class census and class prophecy 40 The program, announced by Halden Wernsing, Toastmaster, included

School Cafeterza On November 28th the new school cafeteria opened The cafeteria is located in the southwestern part of the building near the gym An advisory committee consisting of Mrs john Uhrig Mrs Robert Allen and Mrs William Stillahn helped the school plan the kitchen select the Cooks who served throughout the year are Mrs Loretta Lessman Mrs Ida Luking Mrs Lucille Curvey Miss Louise Kraner Mrs Pauline Alderfer and Mrs Edith Dawson Miss Louise Kranex- Mrs Lucille Curvey Mrs Edith Dawson 42 equipment and assisted the cooks during the fir st few days of operation.
