Chorus CONTINUED R H S was honored ln havmng Marlene Bockew1tz joe M1zera and the quartet place hr st m the state contest Marlene has won m the state fmals the last three years She won f1rst her Sophomore Year and second last year Th1s IS the fxr st year joe entered d1str1ct and state competxtxon At the m1d plams tournament the chorus placed f1rst d1v1s1on the quartet fmrst d1v1s1on Marlene Bockewxtz first d1v1s1on and joe M1zera flrst d1v1s1on The chorus also part1c1pated ln the m1d plalns Festwal at E.d1nburg I-hgh School where over two hundred and fmfty volces were 1n the rrnxed chorus R H S Band The R H S band has slxty three members thls year whlch makes 1t the largest band Raymond has ever had Wlth concerts contests and other appearances the band has been kept very busy September 14th was the band s f1rst concert of the season at Harvel On October Zlst the band was honored to play for the Ill1no1s Educatlon Assoc1at1on In the Orpheum Theatre at Sprlngfxeld Then the basketball season opened and the band played at every home game t1me the band presented the Chr1stmas story w1th Helen Bloome as narrator An assembly program was presented by the band rn Morrmsonvllle on March 7th R H S placed f1rst dlvlslon ln the C M S at Farmersvllle Eleven solos represented the band Seven placed f1rst d1v1s1on and four placed second d1v1s1on The dmstrmct contest was held at I-hllsboro Twenty s1x people from the band partxclpated in thls contest james Murphy won fir st place w1th h1s flute solo The horn quartet placed flr st and the trombone quartet placed fu-st The band went to the dmstrlct Aprll f1r st and recewed second d1v1s1on At the state contest held Aprll 28th at the Umvers1ty of Ill1no1s james Murphy placed thlrd the trombone quartet placed thlrd d1v1s1on R H S also particlpated ln the M1d Pla1ns Festlval at K1nca1d May Sth It also presented a band concert at Harvel and one at Raymond On May 28th the R H S band played for the dedlcatlon of the hghted softball field at Farmersvllle where the governor of Il11no1s was present 32.
