Lynda Hzalory On September 6 1945 twenty four new students came to the Raymond l-hgh School knowlng very 11ttle about the wonders of the school Durmg the second s1x weeks we elected off1cers and selected Mr D1ehl as our sponsor Durmg our Freshman year we lost three of our students 1eav1ng a total of twenty one They were Nancy Osborn B111 Ne1haus and Ted Gasser After our struggle through our Freshman year we entered our Sophomore year Wlth e1ghteen members We rece1ved two new members Herb Recker from St I-101115 and DOTOUIY Brackenhoff from Nokom1s We had members partzclpatxng 1n sports ver se speak1ng and cheerleadrng On September 5 of th1s term the student body and faculty were shocked 1n deep sorrow at the death of one of our school mates Lester H1tch1ngs Dur1ng our .Tumor year there were many spec1al events Our f1rst soc1al event was a wrener roast at Marlan Be1ermann s home Then on November 7 we presented the play Good Grac1ous Grandma wh1ch proved to be very successful and enterta1n1ng We made a most dehghtful tr1p to Urbana February ZZ to see Shakespeare s drama Tam1ng of the Shrew Our f1na1 soc1al a.ffa1r was the annual banquet held 1n the attract1ve Cameha Room of the FT1S1na Hotel m Tay1orv1l1e It was a very dehghtful even1ng whlch was enjoyed very much by everyone who attended Then came our last year together We started out the soc1a1 events for the year w1th a party held at Phyllls Foster s home The beg1nn1ng of the evenmg was spent 1n playlng games and danc1ng In add1t1on to th1s our class presented a three act comedy Toby Helps Out ' wh1ch recewed many laughs from the aud1ence Some of our students were 1nterested 1n band and chorus dur1ng the year Wh1Ch proved then' progress by the fxne rat1ngs they recexved 1n var1ous contests Our g1ft to the school 15 a speakers stand The class of 49 hope they w111 use xt We have come to the end of our road 1n h1gh school Some w1l1 go on to school and others w11l f1nd jobs But as they travel along we hope they w1ll remember the days at R H S Al1c e Dunlap Barbara Lewey Luella H1tch1ng 16 S I 1 1 ' . . Cla!! pI'0plleCy In the modern age of 1981 all is different from decades ago, but mem- ories still linger on as is apparent as now in the home in .some far-away city where a very precious memory is found by an inquisitive Child as we hear: Mother what s this book of funny looking people? I found it 1n the att1c Why that dear is Mother s picture album from high school My what memories that book holds Mama please s1t down and tell me about some of them Oh I really don t have the time Please Marna Oh alright I just can t refuse Start w1th these Mama They look so funny These dear are the members of the class of 49 and the faculty members at that time Starts turning pa gesj This 1S a kind looking man Who was he? That my sweet 15 Mr Crum He was the principal then In my day we just called him Mr Crum but now he s the President of the country s best and biggest college He has been quoted as saying that part of his success 1S due to his secretary Mrs Dwight Johnson, who at the time I knew her was Lolita Bockewitz. Her picture is here on th1s page It's a mystery to me how some people can run both a home and an office so effxciently Oh Mama, who could this be 7 factory known frankly as Fims Franks Frankfurter Company He started this business with the help of Alice Dunlap whose picture 1S over here It seems she has proved to be one of the most capable secretary salesmanager to be found I read just the other day where she was elected one of the ten best secretarxes of the year Right over here we have John Smith He was marr1ed right after graduation I received a letter from Marilyn his wife just the other day He inherited a farm a few miles from Harvel when they were married Made quite a success of it and now they have given lt the fancy name of Sm1th's Inc This looks like a lively little man What s his narne That my dear is Mr Mullens He is now known as Fred Astaire the II He has appeared in sever al films and also on Broadway He has grown fabulously wealthy partly due they say to the fact that he never for gets his change Opposite him IS Mr Presley All nature lovers 1n the world knows him because he is the possessor of the greatest bug collection in the world He says he owes his success in his hobby to the students whom he taught at good old Rayrnond High School His collection was recently enlarged when this man here Mr Schroeder sent h1m a rare bug from Africa 17 , . . . . .
