In addition they support the school annual and pay part of the money which sends students to Boys' State, Girls' State, and the Jiffy Workshop for the annual. Annual Stants with Deficit Starting the year with a 33.00 deficit, the annual staff organized to sell ads early in Octo- ber and by Christmas all of the ads had been sold. Other money-making projects were a dance after the Toutle Lake-Raymond game, selling plastic covers, and selling the annuals themselves. Meeting the first deadline on December 1 was hectic, but the staff made the grade. From the first deadline on things moved more smoothly. To learn the new trends in producing annuals, Georgia Halpin, editor: Lesli Dilk, assistant editor. Georgia Halpin, editor, and Andy Rosentangle, co-business manager, went to the Jiffy Work- shop for annuals at the University of Washing- tonifrom June 12-16. They had the experience of staying in a Co-ed Dormitory and eating at the University of Washington Hub during the workshop. For Georgia Halpin, editor, and Lesli Dilk, assistant editor, the most frequent stop down town for the past year has been Antilla and Kolcz Studio for conferences with Mr. Antilla and Donna Mieshbuhler over pictures. Hit by injuries were John Rosentangle, Al Mouncer, Dick Vetter, Mike Halpin, Tim Keeton, and Karl Lundquist. During the season, the Gulls showed some flare for offensive brilliance, but they proved to have a generally leaky defense. They pulled through wins over traditional rivals Valley and South Bend and also triumphed over Montesano and Rochester. Naselle held the Gulls to a tie. What hurt the Gulls the most was the fact that all of the games they lost were in league play. Raymond ended in last place in the Western Division of the Central League with a 1-4 record. Seniors on this squad were Dave Cardwell, Karl Lundquist, Mike Moseley, Pete Roberts, John Rosentangle, Ron Seehafer, Pete Strum- ski, Tim Tobiason, Dick Vetter, Greg Walker, John Wood, and Gary Wrona. Mr. John Wahl, varsity coach, and Mr. Gary Johnson, assistant coach, were new to Ray- mond High School in the 1967 football season. FRONT ROW: D. Cardwell, R. Seehafer, J. Woods, D. Vetter, M. This year's edition ofthe Gulls postedacommendable 22--6 win-loss record. The Seagulls finished second in the West Central League with a 10- -2 record. Raymond split games with Ilwaco and Elma, leaving the Gulls one game behind league champion Ilwaco. Eatonville edged Raymond for the Southwest Washington District title, but the Gulls proved the best of the Southwest by being the only team to place at the state tournament. At the annual Spring Sports Banquet, Chris Halpin was awarded the Defensive Award, Rick Hoffer re- ceived the Most Rebounds Award, John Rosentangel acquired the Inspirational Award, and for the first time two players, Rick Hoffer and Terry Stark, earned the Captain's Award. The Gulls were a relatively young team this year with starting sophomore Pat Rogers. Pat was thexplay- maker for the Gulls during the season. The rest of the starters were juniors. The tallest of the team was Rick Hoffer. Rick was the leading rebounder and scorer. Terry Stark was the deadliest shooter on the squad. Gail Berry joined Stark and Hoffer in the rebounding and also had some fine nights shooting. Chris Halpin led the Gulls in the defensive department. John Resentangle, the only senior on the first six players, filled in when others were having bad nights. Mr. Byron Vadset, coaching his third year at Raymond, was the varsity coach, and Mr. Bill Kelly was the new JV coach, moving up from coaching junior high basketball at Raymond. . Stark, M. Halpin, G. The Gulls did run their way to state but didn't fare too well. Bob and the lone senior, Doug Rinehart, were consistently in the top ten runners all season. Lacking the follow-up runners was the major problem for the Gull harriers. Others on the squad were Mike Sweeney, Tom Vetter, Gail Berry, and Rick Hoffer, juniors, and Randy Bale and John Johnson, sophomores. Boys show enthusiasm at state meet.
