RITTER, SENIUR GIRLS eniurs llust estern. Uld-Fashioned Dances l A 1 S A few years after the death of Tex Ritter, a club of senior boys was formed in his honor. It has contin- ued ever since to become a highlight dance of the year. The thirty-two Ritter boys rounded up friends and their dates to join them at the Bumble Bee, where the bands Crossroads South and Cactus Creek played. The dance consisted of western dancing and basically having a good time. In keeping with tradition, couples dressed alike to distinguish Ritter members and their dates from guests. 1.2.11 Paul Mueller, officer, felt that the formation of a senior boys group, like senior girls, helped unify the senior class and bring them togeth- er. He also added, Ritter is some- thing that the members would al- ways remember! 1. Jacque McCord, John May, Joe McClos- key, and Paul McCutchon all seemed to be enjoying themselves at Ritter. 2. While Kathy Pensyl took it easy, David Ross really kicked up his boots to country music. 3. Richard Rutherford left his date to other company so he could talk to Donald Wisian. Ever wanted to re-live the good ol' days? Twenty-six senior girls turned back the clock at the annual Senior Girls Dance, held at La Quinta Royale on April lst. Wearing gowns and tuxedos reminiscent of the styles of yes- ter-year, the girls, their dates, and guests danced until the small hours of the morning to commemorate the theme, I Believe in Yesterday. The celebration continued for members and their dates at a breakfast at , the home of co-chairman Lesle Nicholson. The girls held meetings throughout the year to plan for the dance. FAVORITES Winter Wonderland Dance Succes f I You saw children playing in the snow, pine trees, deer, a giant snowman, snowflakes, and white Christmas trees. Yes, you were enjoying a win- ter wonderland dance. Sugar Bush, a band from Louisiana, supplied the music all night long, but the highlight ofthe even- ing was when Chris Flood and Lau- ra De La Garza, master and mistress of ceremonies, an- nounced the favorites and most outstanding senior boy and girl of 1978. Student Council spon- sored this annual event, and Abby Bras- well and Pam Priour, co-chairpersons, orga- nized it. After the dance, Abby said thank you to Paul DeGroot for painting the murals, Ms. Saenz, the guys that set up tables, the people that helped decorate the gym, and every- one for making it such a successful and fun OCC3SlOl'l.H 1. And, just as in schools all over, it was the aca- demic classes which provided the fundamentals - a basic edu- cation. But extra-curricular activities were a vital element. They developed good citizenship qualities and provided training in so- cial skills-ways to get along with others and be productive in our society. If you were the artistic type, like Parvi Sheikholeslami, the Art Club was just what you wanted to join. But if outdoors was where you'd rather be, Marine Science gave you, Paul Mueller, and Noe Rodriguez an opportunity to go on field trips to the beach to catch fish. On a more serious note, NJROTC officers George Tallmadge, Eric Clark, and Rey Perez prepared themselves for a strict Inspection And one additional club was FHA where stu dents practiced homemaklng and Sandra Foores and Barbara Bernal practiced feeding a baby doll We had an innumerable amount of organizations to fill any need or just offer fun 'Sv' V' ,Q ,A i , A Q ,s--,. - ,125 Kiki.
